Some facts about me:
- I have three children and one grandchild
- I was an Army officer’s wife for 24 years so am well-versed in ceremony
- I write romantic fiction but believe absolutely in the fact of romance
- I feel enriched by my connection to everyone I meet
- I believe listening and communicating are the answer, whatever the question might be
- I love, love, love my work as a marriage celebrant!
As a civil celebrant, I deeply value the ceremonial aspect of celebrating life’s milestones.
A wise woman at my professional association’s last conference said, “Ceremony is medicine to the soul”. I couldn’t agree more; without it we miss out on something very important to us all.
Ceremony recognises and honours any significant change in our status in the world. Heart-felt ceremonies to celebrate important life stages will stay with us for the rest of our lives.
In my role as a celebrant I believe that I help to expand the cultural fabric of our community. I’m like an architect who works with people to co-create their dream home because I work with my clients to co-create their dream ceremony.
Regardless of the number of people involved, the perfect ceremony should speak to the hearts of everyone present.
As well as being a celebrant, I have a private counselling practice specialising in grief and loss, life balance and stress management. A lot of my counselling work is with people affected by cancer. Working with the Life Force Cancer Foundation I facilitate weekly support groups in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs and Inner West as well as weekend country retreats for cancer patients, survivors & their families
I also speak at conferences, workshops, seminars and other events about how it is never too late to change your life.
Another of my passions is writing and I currently have two books in print. I have written several short stories, a novella and my first full-length novel is a work in progress.
